California, I miss you
So beyond all the reading, and writing, and taking all the classes you need to get your degree and graduate on time, I’ve come to realize that college is about more than just learning academically…I think it’s also about learning one very important thing: appreciation. Sure, everyone thinks that they appreciate what they have and know how lucky they are. But is that really true? Do people really notice how fortunate they are? I thought I did…until I came to college. Don’t get me wrong, college is wonderful and there is so much to be grateful for being here, but I guess I didn’t realize how much I appreciated home and everything there until I got here. It has gotten better, but lately I have been quite homesick and missing what was once so normal to me. It’s really hard to grasp that now my life at college is “normal”…it’s especially weird to think that I will never have my past life at home again exactly the way it was. I miss my friends, and my family, and my bed so much. I literally can’t wait until Christmas break and then summer break to have back what I am used to, even if it is only for a short period of time. However, I think it may even be better than before because now I will actually appreciate it and be thankful for every little moment and every little detail of it. So…thank you college, not only for my education but also for teaching me things that are even more important sometimes such as appreciation.  :)
